Day 118: Ice Fishing
Date: 28 DEC 2008
GOOD MORNING! The sleep in the igloo was cold but great!!
Breakfast. Notice the tube thingy? They have lots of food that comes out from a tube in Northern Europe. For example, cheese, bacon, mayo, mustard. It is kind of handy. I like it.
Then after breakfast, we had more arctic activities. We went Ice Fishing!! Taina own so big a piece of land that they even have their own lake and a fishing cottage. So first thing to do for ice fishing is to find a nice spot and start drilling a hole.
Ok, it's through.
Then move the drill up and down a few times to clear away any ice around it.
And thats my fishing hole!
Here's a video of how to drill a hole by Suripya.
And thats her hole.
And so we all drill our own fishing hole.
There is only one rule to Ice Fishing, dont drill your hole very close to the other person. You dont want the ice to crack into a huge hole dont you? And so we are fairly spread out.
Once you got your hole, you will now have to grab a worm,
and eat it.
No I am kidding. You will have to put the worm on the fish hook ofcourse.
DONE.
Now we are all ready to fish.
After awhile, we decided to just leave it as it was as we got tired of standing there.
Meanwhile, Taina already got the fire set up for us and so we went over for some warm.
We told her that none of us caught any fishes and she said she know. This was not the time of the year where there will be fishes in this area. But nevertheless she still brought us here to ice fish as she knows that it was be a fun experience for all of us. How sweet of her!!
So we sat around the fire and began heating up some food which she brought along. Here are the pictures taken.
After some food, we went back to the lake for more fun. Thats Taina and her daughter lying on the lake.
And I suggested to take this photo and....
I made them do my signature shot!! haha.
Then Supriya decided to do a snow angel.
but we thought that it would be more fun to bury her with snow. HAHA
But she managed to break free
and it turn into a snowball fight!!
Ouch!!! My butt!!
How about acting stupid??
Hahaha.. it was great fun!!! We did enjoyed ourselves. Thank you Taina!!
And so we made our way back home.
Time to eat again. Guess what we had? Reindeer meat!
Another guest of Taina's said that he had not been to the Santa Claus village and would love to go there and so we all went there in the afternoon. Mode of transport? Camper van! Here are some pictures in the camper van while on the way there.
The kids fell alseep along the way.
But once at the Santa Claus village, they became lively again!!
More pictures taken around the Santa's Village.
Photo of a picture of the northern light. I wish to see one like this.
Feeling thirsty?
Letters that were sent to Santa.
This one is interesting. Just take a look at what this kid wished for?
I am now 2648km away from North Pole.
Northcape, northest part of europe. I am thinking of going there. Hmmm.....
Having a break in the cafe at the village.
We then went to a very special Mcdonalds. Why is it special? See it for yourself.
Afterwhich we went to the supermarket to get some food. They have cute little trolleys for kids.
And guess what the kids went for after getting their trolley? Sweets and chocolates ofcourse. Haha.
Then it was time to go home but before that we Taina went to picked up another 2 guests. They were from Belgium.
So the camper van got cramp but we still had fun. The more the merrier!!
Look at his look eye lashes! This kid love me.
Ok, maybe not anymore.
So it was back home with more fun and laughter. Thats hows the evening went by.
