Day 87: Largest Medieval Town Square In Europe
Date: 27 Nov 2008.
After being on the road for 87 days, i finally met the first Singaporean Traveler. YEAH!! LONG LIVE SINGAPORE!!! Not many Singaporeans do long trips and so that was why I got so excited. Well, he too came in to europe from asia by land but instead of going through central asia like what I did, he went through Russia.
Here's a picture of him and my new host. We were by hosted by the same person. It was interesting because our host said that she had never met a singaporean before in her life but now she has got 2 in her house.
The first place I went to visit today was the Collegium Maius. It is the oldest surviving building university building in Poland, a 15th century gothic architecture.
Try to be there at 11am or 1pm and you will see the characters marching out from the 14th century replica clock.
Love this water drainage pipe.
More pictures around the courtyard.
I spent most of my time wondering around the market suqare aka Rynek Glowny. Krakow's Market Square is the Largest Medieval Town Square In Europe. One word to describle it - WOAH!! I also spent alot of my time entering some of the buildings around the market square. They are such a beauty.
`
FREE BEER?? YEAH!!!! I WANT!!! GIVE IT TO ME!!
Since Xmas is only a month away, decorating the town is a must.
More pictures taken around the Square and in some of the churches.
Poland is a very bicycle friendly place. They have got lanes dedicated just for cyclists and you can rent bicycles almost anywhere. Just pick them up and return them at any of these stations around the town.
I am not a christian so I am not very sure about this. These are statues of the 12 something something guarding the church. I am sorry. I dont know how to spell that word.
Anything to confess? Speak to the father.
More photos.
Is it a good sign to see many soldiers and police patrolling the place?
Some interesting buskers.
Well, it is not easy to get lost as there are signs everywhere telling you where the places of interests are located.
The defence walls, Barbican and the Florian Gate. These marks the boundary of the old town.
