Day 76: Sevatopol and Balaklava

It was very nice of my hosts to accompany me out today. Where to? Sevatopol and Balaklava!! Sevatopol hited international headlines during the Crimean wars and most visitors today come here due to interest of that. No wonder we were greeted by a huge tanker upon our arrival.

Soviet/ communist logo.

Photobucket

One of my hosts, EnLoy. But we all call him Ah Loy.

Photobucket

An old train sits quietly beside this tanker.

Photobucket

Photobucket

First place of visit, Prince Volodymyr Catherdal. On the way there.

Photobucket

View of the Catherdal from far.

Photobucket

Getting there.

Photobucket

Ah Loy and SinYee (A friend of my host) in front of the Catherdal.

Photobucket

Finally there.

Photobucket

And so we took a walk in the Catherdal.

Photobucket

The real draw for me isnt the Catherdal but the ruins of the ancient Greek city of Khersones. Since I have not been to Greece before, I decided that I must come here to take a look. Here are some pictures taken at one part of the Ruins which is right in front of the catherdal.

Photobucket

The greek pillars.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Four asians fooling around the greek pillars.

Photobucket

In my opnion, the most beautiful part of these ruins lies right beside the sea.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

And from here you get a great view of the catherdal.

Photobucket

Photobucket

It is so beautiful here that all of us started camwhoring.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

The infamous "Greece honeymoon" photos of Ah Loy and SinYee.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Hey! Can you see me in the background? HAHA

Photobucket

Photobucket

Let me re-introduce everyone again. From left to right, Me, AhLoy, SinYee and Jackie.

Photobucket

Then we moved closer to the sea. This is the black sea. Why the name? I dont know. Maybe someone can enlighten me. Anyway, this sea is beautiful and the water is so clear.

Photobucket

Photobucket

And we started camwhoring again.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Then they went up to higher ground,

Photobucket

Photobucket

While I remain by the sea.

Photobucket

And from there, I saw a very lovely scene. Nice hor?

Photobucket

And when I told the girls about it, they decided to give it a try. *faint*

Photobucket

As we walked on, we saw a very huge bell.

Photobucket

I suddenly remembered that it has been a long time since I did my signature shot. And so I asked the girls to do it.

Photobucket

Then its the guys turn.

Photobucket

Lets all do it together.

Photobucket

okok. Proper one.

Photobucket

Oh no. The weather's closing in. We better make our way out of here.

Photobucket

Like I mentioned before, this place was made famous as a result of the crimean war. Here are the Warships.

Photobucket

Here are more greek remains.

Photobucket

Photobucket

This looks like a theater or something.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Leaving Sevatopol, we went to Balaklava. A place where the rich have their holidays.

Photobucket

So what do the rich have here? Yachts, yachts and more yachts.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Here is a Boat restaurant.

Photobucket

We took a walk around the shore.

Photobucket

Balaklava is a very strategic location for water warfare. This place was used by the British Navy during the Crimean War but is now used by the local Navy ofcourse. Want to be a sailor? You can buy one of these uniforms.

Photobucket

Then we decided to have a feel of the rich. What could be better than drinking wine and watching sunset in a yacht. So we decided to go offshore in one of these yachts.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Enjoying my wine.

Photobucket

We all want to be the navigatior.

Photobucket

Here is where they keep their submarines.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Other warships that are around.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Although there were other people in the yacht, we were as if in our own world.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Nice comfy couch.

Photobucket

The owner of the yacht showed us how to fish.

Photobucket

This is his fish detector.

Photobucket

We had good view,

Photobucket

and a nice sunset.

Photobucket

Photobucket

SinYee and the sailor.

Photobucket

Then we went back to Sevatopol for the nightview.

Photobucket

This is the Eagle Column.

Photobucket

Then we make our way back home from there. We took a private taxi.

Photobucket

And when we got back home, we have got a nice and delicious dinner waiting for us. Jackie and AhLoy's schoolmates had cooked for us. How nice!!

black sea - i was once told such name was given due to the dark clouds above the sea surface throughout most of the year, and hence reflected onto the sea surface.
