ZeeVinCeZ Motorcycle Trip - 3 Nation Charity Ride 2006, Phuket
16/11/06 - 20/11/06
3 Nation Charity Ride, an annual event that bring bikers from Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand together for Charity. This year, there were appox 1500 bikers whom attended the Charity Ride. Team 27 is the organiser from Singapore.
My friend and I left for Hatyai at night and arrived near the border quite early. As the Malaysia-Thailand border only opens from 6am-12midnight, we decided to take a nap at the last petrol station before the border.
Preparing to sleep.
Tried sleeping on the bike
But not very comfortable, so we slept on the floor instead.
We moved off for the border at about 530am, cleared the immgration and eventually arrived at Hatyai. Took a break and join in the rest of the bikers for a convoy ride to Phuket. We were escorted by the Thai police and so we just bypass each traffic light without stopping(even on red light. SHIOK!!).
Thai police giving out flowers as good luck and blessing to all bikers. Wishing all bikers a safe and sound ride.
There was also an performance before we set off.
We are ready to move out.
Me and my blessing.

Finally, after a long and wet ride, we arrived at Phuket.

There were 2 other special bikers besides the korean bikers. These 2 bikers were from Germany. They left their home on a world touring trip 2yrs back. Rode through many countries before arriving in Thailand. They so happen to chance upon this Charity Ride and so they join in. They had travelled 50,000+++km on their bike so far and they will be riding to Singapore in 2 months time. After which, they will be going to Australia. I had read alot about these bikers going around the world on their bikes but I never knew that I will have the chance to meet one of them. If I had the capability, I will also wanna do it. I wish them good luck for their tour.
The bike that they are riding is same as me. Africa Twin. But their's is a 94model. Amazing.
After the home, we went to have our lunch at the Navy Golf Course.

After lunch, we headed back to our hotel. The next event will be the Charity Dinner. Here are some pics taken at the dinner.
Giving Speech
Performance.
The main thing for this dinner is to raise more fund by auction and selling things. One of the item for sale is this cap. Only 200 pics, specially made for this event. Since its for charity, I bought one.
Some of the items for auctions sre as follows:
KTM adventure trip. Auction won by Storm Riders Singapore for apox S$1000. (Click on the pic to see the route travel. Unbelievable.)
The next itme for auction is the highlight. It first started off with the Gold Singha Lion, Than the responds got good, so one of the riders from Sunathani offered to add in his gold chain to raise even more fund. He said that the chain gave him good luck. Won lottery etc but he is willing to give it up for charity. Then the fight began between the Storm riders and the Penang riders. Each offering a bid higher than the other.
And at this point of time, the Sunathani biker added in this "Whichever team wins the bid, that team and its members will have all their free meals provided for a lifetime whenever they rides to Sunathani."
Wah!!! A lifetime leh... So now the fire is getting bigger and to make thing even even even more exciting, one of the Thai Police Commissioner, Who was riding with us all the while, gives out his pandeant for auction. According to him, this pandeant was given to him from the King. It has diamonds on it.
After a long fierce fight, all the three items were won by the Penang Bikers for 600,000Baht. Second highest bid was by the Storm riders, Singapore for 550,000Baht. But the story does not end here. After winning the auction, the Penang biker came out and say " Since the Storm Riders, Singapore wanted these three items so much. I am now offering all three items to the Storm riders, Singapore for 550,000Baht. "
And the Storm Riders, Singapore took out the offer. So in total, 1,150,000Baht was raised by these 3 items. All for Charity.
The Storm Rider, Singapore Biker who bided it. (The white hair uncle)
The Penang Biker who bided it. (The one in cap, holding mic.)
The 3 Nation Charity Ride offically ends after the dinner. The following day, we made our way back.
Lunching at the petrol Station
These 2 dog very steady. They were "doing it" and crossing the road at the same time. Even now .
Remember the blessing flowers that I got on the first day, This is what its left.
Total Distance covered: Appox 3050km.
